Is This Thing On?
2007.05.17 (Thu) 08:59

As our astute readers have no doubt noticed, we've been awfully quiet lately. Our last post was over a month ago, and we weren't exactly lighting it up in the weeks leading up to that entry, either. We've also been pretty bad about responding to comments and replying to submissions via our contact form. The bottom line is that our daily lives have been way too busy lately to do much of anything. Between all of our members, we have new jobs, new domiciles, new babies, and a mountain of miscellaneous "stuff" — oh, hell, let's call it shit — taking up our time. And frankly, when we do get a little bit of a break, all we want to do is to set the old eyelids on Vaguely Twitch and collapse on the bed, couch, or whatever other surface is handiest — not a very conducive state of mind for Two Percent Company business.

So first things first: our apologies to anyone we haven't gotten back to (a list which, unfortunately, dates back many months). We've received some interesting opinions, some cool links, and some insightful ideas, and we hate the fact that we haven't even been able to acknowledge that we've received them.

Second, we want to make it clear that we aren't done here. Throughout these last few months, we've had more than one conversation about the future of Two Percent, and one thing has been very clear to us — no matter how busy we may be right now, we have no desire to throw in the towel. We'll be back, and we'll be Ranting...

...but it won't be right away. Based on our best guesses, it looks like the first half of June is a reasonable (though not dead certain) target for starting to get back on the Ranting bus. By then, a lot of our personal issues should be coming to a close (or at least becoming more stable and predictable), and we should have a little more free time. Until then, don't expect a lot from us, other than the occasional comment, and maybe a linking post or two. In addition, if the mood strikes us, we may try to re-post a few of our older Rants that some readers may have missed.

Keep in mind that we do check out every new comment that comes in, and we scan every form submission — we really appreciate those of you who've been batting cleanup for us ever since the whole Sylvia Browne explosion at the beginning of the year, and we really get-a-kick-out-of and/or get-our-mad-on-upon-reading (whichever fits) the links that you've sent in. Thanks for your patience, your comments, your submissions, and your ass-kickings of the asshats who leave stupid comments about phony psychics. We hope you'll stick around — we can see light at the end of the tunnel, and we're pretty sure it isn't the Mack Truck of God coming to strike us down. After all, we've seen no evidence that God even has a Mack Truck. Though we all know that won't stop certain folks from buying him some mudflaps depicting silvery naked Jesuses lounging about in stiletto heels. (Photoshop gurus, have some fun. We know we will, once we get some downtime.)

Catch you all soon.

Yeah, you've missed out on a lot all! I've converted to Islam, BronzeDog has become an alcoholic, Tom Foss is a Chiropractor (sp?), and TimmyAnn is working for the Psychic Hotline.

Seriously, don't worry. We're always here to slap the bleevers around.

Bagheera, 2007.05.17 (Thu) 17:21 [Link] »

Was starting to wonder what had befallen you guys. Good to see there weren't any tragedies in the list. And you're right. God doesn't actually have a Mack truck (with or without mudflaps). She has a Volvo, and she's not afraid to use it!

TimmyAnn, 2007.05.18 (Fri) 03:16 [Link] »

Well, what can I say? It was that or the sex line and the guys got turned off when I'd start laughing and saying, "You want to do what to my what? In your dream, loser!"

darthcynic, 2007.05.18 (Fri) 08:35 [Link] »

My days of fasting and praying to our lord as done many times for reward in some old collection of myths and legends have been answered. Like the prodigal somebody mentioned in same old collection of myths and legends you have been returned unto us.

Happy are we.

Seriously though its good to hear that one of the twinkling lights of rationality and reason is still with us, looking forward to the rants.

Jason Spicer, 2007.05.18 (Fri) 14:04 [Link] »

Well, 2%Co, you guys could free up some time by not going to church on Sundays.

dikkii, 2007.05.20 (Sun) 23:57 [Link] »

Good to hear that you're still around folks. Been waiting for the Falwell post. But thats OK - I know you've been busy.

Tom Foss, 2007.05.23 (Wed) 22:08 [Link] »

Sorry to hear about the busy-ness, but I know how it goes. My whirlwind education at Palmer College hasn't been easy, but who knew how little time it would take to get a chiropractic degree?

So, whenever you guys return, I can unsubluxate your subluxations or something.

Next stop: the Academy of Reflexology and Reiki Research, or ARRR.

TimmyAnn, 2007.05.24 (Thu) 00:53 [Link] »

"So, whenever you guys return, I can unsubluxate your subluxations or something."

Wait, I am getting something.....wait.....I predict that you guys will end up in the hospital.....

(Okay, I give up, I'm a moron, how do you do the blockquotes? I tried the only thing I know how to do, but I looked at the preview and it didn't work.)

Akusai, 2007.05.24 (Thu) 08:31 [Link] »

Ooh, Tom, ooh. Don't associate such horrifical woo with the sacred cry of His Noodliness' Chosen People. That's as close to blasphemy as you can come when you're a Pastafarian.

Ryan, 2007.05.24 (Thu) 11:03 [Link] »

TimmyAnn:

If you want to do blockquotes, just do this:

[blockquote]quoted text[/blockquote]

Just replace the "[" with "

Jeff from the Two Percent Company, 2007.05.24 (Thu) 11:25 [Link] »

Damn, I saw that coming when I got the e-mail notification. Our current version of MovableType is a bitch about parsing those characters, Ryan — I'd like to kick it in the teeth sometimes. (It even reencodes the damn alpha codes!)

TimmyAnn, you may have already guessed, but just replace the square brackets Ryan used with the "less than" and "greater than" signs (HTML's standard tag delineators).

And, as a note: "moron" = somebody who holds fast to stupidity even when given the opportunity to learn something. I don't think you qualify, TA.

I checked the preview! It worked! Thank you, Jeff!! On all the other boards I go to it's the square bracket thingies!

TimmyAnn, 2007.05.24 (Thu) 14:58 [Link] »

Oh, and thanks to Ryan, too, for trying to help me! And, Jeff, I missed your kind words about me not qualifying as a moron before. Thanks for that, too.

The Great Hairy One, 2007.05.31 (Thu) 00:03 [Link] »

What what??? Here I was thinking that you 2%'ers had nothing to do but roll around in a vast vat of money, like the gentlemen at Blizzard or Microsoft. My illusions are shattered.

Looking forward to your return.

Cheers,
TGHO
