Go Vote*
2006.11.07 (Tue) 12:05

[* Unless you're an idiot. Then please stay home and just pray for your candidates to win. We're sure that will work out just as well for you.]

Of course, to our overseas readers, feel free to ignore this post. Sit back and have a beer while you wait to see whether the United States might start turning the corner in the next couple of years, or whether we're punching our tickets for another two years of snowballing lunacy.

There are plenty of people who are too stupid and misinformed to vote responsibly in this country. We can vouch for that. Hell, we can even link to some of the comments made by such people right here on our site. But our regular readers are not in that group. If you often find yourself nodding in agreement with things that we say about politics, science, religion, and civil liberties, then the best thing that you can do today is go out and vote.

There's a horrific shortage of intelligent, informed voters in this country. Don't deprive us of any more by staying home.

A Vote for Sanity...we hope.

You Americans are always forgetting Canada, it seems. We just get lumped into the whole "overseas" category even though we're at best "overlakes."

But anyways, I seriously doubt people overlakes are going to be ignoring this election. It's one last chance to make Bush impotent and - dare I suggest it? - set up the tables for an impeachment. We can't do much to affect it, but we'll definitely be paying attention.

Well as an outsider or oversea'r I watch with some interest from the wings but having seen some of the Democrats candidates I cannot honestly say I'm expecting much different. Different party they may be but I was hearing the same sky daddy affirming, intolerant and backward looking idiocy that the conservatives spout, they all looked the same save the spouting over Iraq.

Sorry about that, Infophile. How about "our overseas readers, as well as those in nearby countries who just wish there was an entire ocean between them and the Bush administration"? That should cover it, yeah?

And believe us, Darthcynic, we hold no illusions about the Democrats. There's a reason we've been complaining about how much they suck for the past several years — namely, because they suck. Combating the bible-thumping right by gently petting their own bibles isn't our idea of good leadership. But there's also no doubt in our minds that wresting control away from the Republicans is the most important thing we can do for this country right now; and given our shitty and seemingly inescapable two-party system, that means pulling for the Democrats. No, we don't like them, and we firmly expect them to continue to suck, but we'll deal with that as it comes. At least if the Democrats take back the House, our idiot president will find his imperial powers held somewhat in check.
